Five Great Mallorca Beaches You Should Visit

by Bea Cińska
Mallorca

Mallorca beaches are world renowned. Did you know there are 262 beaches on this island stretching over 50 kms in total length? That’s a lot of beaches on one little island. Clearly, in our two weeks we spent there we could not have possibly visited them all. However, we visited several and as a result, we put together this list of our favourite ones.

Es Trenc beach, Mallorca

Five great Mallorca beaches you should visit:

Es Trenc

Why Es Trenc is one of our favourite Mallorca beaches:

  • It’s one of the longest beaches on Mallorca stretching for several kilometres.
  • It has super soft sand.
  • It backs onto beautiful sand dunes.
  • There are lots of beautiful shells to collect.
  • It’s preferred by water sports enthusiasts.
  • We named it the “beach of the poets” because of the white huts with lovely phrases written on them in Catalan (I am learning Catalan and it was fun to translate them).

Tips for Es Trenc beach:

  • If you manage to park here (only about six spots available), you won’t have to pay for parking (5 minute walk through Ses Covetes beach to get to this beach). Otherwise it’s fairly pricey to park at the private parking lot near Es Trenc.
  • Pack a picnic. The closest restaurant has many pitiful reviews online.
  • There is a nudist section in the middle of the beach. So if you wish to swim naked, head over there. If not, stay in the swimsuit sections.

Sa Calobra

Why Sa Calobra is one of our favourite Mallorca beaches:

  • It’s a small pebbly beach flanked by large cliffs.
  • It’s located at the end of a gorge created by the Torrent de Pareis.
  • You can combine your beach day with a hike or canyoning through the gorge.

Tips for Sa Calobra beach:

  • If you manage to park here (only two spots available), you won’t have to pay for parking. Otherwise you’ll need to line up to park in the private lot and pay. And it’s not cheap to park there.
  • It’s about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot to the beach. But it’s breathtaking. At one point, you walk through a rock tunnel with amazing “windows” onto the Mediterranean.

Ca’n Pere Antoni

Why Ca’n Pere Antoni is one of our favourite Mallorca beaches:

  • It’s in Palma de Mallorca.
  • It is a sandy beach.
  • You can combine your beach day with some city sightseeing in Palma.

Tips for C’an Pere Antoni beach:

  • There is free street parking by the beach.
  • It’s only a 24 minute walk from the beach to the Cathedral of Mallorca, so you could leave your car here while you sightsee.

 Cala Pi

Why Cala Pi is one of our favourite Mallorca beaches:

  • It’s located in a picturesque town of Cala Pi (45 kms southeast of Palma).
  • There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants above the beach.
  • It is a sandy beach nestled between two rocky cliffs.
  • The water is very shallow for at least 100 m from the shore (perfect for little kids).
  • You can combine your beach day with some sightseeing of Cala Pi, the oldest settlement on Mallorca.

Tips for Cala Pi beach:

  • Street parking is free for cars in town.
  • If you bring a baby stroller or have mobility issues, be aware there are quite a few steps to descend onto the beach from the town.

Porto Cristo

Why Porto Cristo is one of our favourite Mallorca beaches:

  • It’s in the beautiful fishing village of Porto Cristo.
  • It is a sandy beach.
  • You can combine your beach day with a visit to the famous Coves of Drach and village sightseeing.
Porto Cristo, Mallorca

Tips for Porto Cristo beach:

  • We parked for free at Coves of Drach for our visit there, then left our car there and walked into town and then the beach (about a 20 minute walk).
  • You can take glass bottom boat tours to see beautiful rock formations under the sea.

Happy travels!

Mallorca is on my wishlist and getting more insight into the beaches and things to do helps a lot! It was interesting to learn how little parking some beaches had–such a helpful tip to know about ahead of time!

Thanks, Sapna! Yes, the beaches were very clean. There are so many different kinds of beaches on this small island – sand, rock, pebble, whatever your heart desires.

I haven’t been to Mallorca yet, but it looks amazing. I had no idea there were so many beaches. The pictures look lovely and the beaches seem relatively quiet. It’s nice that some beaches have free parking too.

Yes, it was fairly quiet. We went in April so it was before high-season still. I am sure it gets insanely crowded in July and August but I would not want to go those months, because I do not like crowds.

How beautiful! I have never been much interested in Mallorca as I always thought of it as a party island. Well, maybe less than Ibiza, but kind of the same reputation. But I guess this island offers a lot in terms of relaxation and beautiful beach holidays even to people who do not like to party like myself.

It is beautiful. And if you go off-season, you will avoid the crazy crowds and party goers and will be able to enjoy the island as it was meant to be enjoyed. Out in nature and in peace.

I love Mallorca but have only been to two of its beaches and I’m pretty sure neither of them are listed here! They all look so beautiful, I’m feeling like I need to book a trip now!

I know! I can’t believe how many beaches there are on such a small island! If you went ten times to Mallorca, you could not possibly visit them all.

We went to Mallorca for the first time last year and although the town we stayed in was really small and quiet the beaches were gorgeous! I really enjoyed it and I’d love to go back to a different part of the island to explore more in the future!

We prefer small and quiet as well. We stayed in an old farmhouse away from any hustle and bustle. We did a lot of hiking, but of course, had to see the legendary beaches of Mallorca.
